Sensed presence
A strong impression that another person or entity is nearby, even when no clear figure is visible.
Also known as: felt presence
What it means in practice
Sensed presences are reported in sleep paralysis, neurological conditions, extreme environments and spiritual experiences. Context and interpretation strongly affect whether the presence feels threatening, neutral or supportive.
The sensation is real to the experiencer; its source must be considered separately.
