Wake-back-to-bed
A timing method in which a person wakes after several hours of sleep, stays awake briefly and then returns to sleep with a deliberate intention.
Also known as: WBTB
What it means in practice
The method takes advantage of increased REM sleep and a mind that is more alert than it was at bedtime. It is widely used for lucid dreaming and astral projection practice.
It should be used moderately. Repeatedly disrupting sleep can reduce wellbeing and make practice counterproductive.
